Paloma Elsesser spent years being told she was “in-between” sizes, too big for straight-size castings, not the right shape for plus-size ones either. Then she became the face of Fenty Beauty campaigns and walked for some of the biggest names in high fashion, no asterisk attached.
She’s landed magazine covers most models spend a decade chasing, and she got there by refusing to shrink herself into a category that was built without her in mind.
Hot take: Elsesser has openly said the industry still doesn’t know what to do with bodies that don’t fit its two neat boxes. Is “plus-size” as a label helping women like her, or holding the whole industry back from just calling it “modeling”?
